Division Pistol Competition Badge (Gold)

Eastern Match Results Totaled

Eastern Division Rifle and Pistol Matches ended last Friday, with Quantico Shooters in most of the top positions.

In the rifle competition, first place was taken by First Lt. John M. Jagoda with a 566x600. Lieutenant Jagoda received a gold medal. Second place was taken by Pfc. Fred Wright, Jr., with a score of 563x600 giving him his first gold medal. Third was CWO Mark W. Billing, Distinguished, with 561x600.

Pistol competition was won by LtCol. Walter R. Walsh, Distinguished, with a total of 562x600. Placing second was MSgt. Thomas R. Mitchell, Distinguished, with 561x600. Third was CWO Mark W. Billing, Distinguished, with a score of 560x600.

Marine Corps Competition started Tuesday morning. At press time results of the competition were not available, but will be carried in next week's issue of the Sentry.

MCS Riflemen Fire 1107, Win Elliott Trophy

The Marine Corps Schools Rifle Team won the Elliott Trophy in competition ending at noon Tuesday. The team, captained by LtCol. William F. Prickett and coached by MSgt. Thomas R. Mitchell, won the award with a score of 1107, followed by the Marine Barracks, USNAD, Brooklyn, N. Y., team with 1100.

CWO Mark W. Billing led his team, scoring 282, followed by Staff Sgt. John G. Jones with 279 and MSgt John A. Ward and Pfc. Fred Wright tying with 273.

The Elliott Trophy was presented to the Marine Corps by the officers of the Marine Corps rifle team of 1909 and 1910, in appreciation of the interest and support of Maj. Gen. George F. Elliott in promoting the skill in military marksmanship.

The Wirgman Trophy was won by the Marine Barracks, NTC, Great Lakes, Ill., team captained by First Lt. Paul A. Wood and coached by Tech. Sgt. E. E. Wehinger. Sgt. S. R. Lucek led the score with 274, with a team total of 1076 for the trophy. The Marine Corps Depot of Supplies of Philadelphia placed second with 1070.

The Wirgman Trophy was presented to the Marine Corps by Maj. Harold F. Wirgman and is awarded to the highest team score in the Elliott Trophy match whose complement does not exceed 300 officers and enlisted men.
